What drew me to this painting was the idea of bringing two very different kinds of presence face to face. The leopard is powerful and instinctive, while the woman is calm and completely unafraid. Neither one needs to overpower the other.
I wanted that moment between their eyes to hold the story. There’s respect there, but also something deeper the feeling of recognizing power without being intimidated by it.
Maybe that’s why I’m drawn to painting women and animals together. They allow me to explore different sides of who we are without having to explain everything in words.
