“There is a quiet kind of strength that doesn't need to be seen to be felt.”
What caught me when I painted Silent Thunder was the horse’s lowered head and the movement of the mane around it. There’s so much power in the animal, yet nothing in the moment feels like it needs to be proven.
I used deep browns and blues with touches of gold to bring out that contrast. The energy is there, but it’s contained, and I think that’s what gives this horse its presence.
Silent Thunder is about the kind of confidence you can feel before a single move is made.
